As humans, the pursuit of change and progress is something that is innate to every one of us. Like it or not, there will always be things in life that we hope could be a little different, a little better in the way that daily situations & events turn out. It could be in the way we think, speak, or the way we handle everything from our finances to our relationships with others. We seek to become better -- and we should. As we strive to continuously exceed our potential, we rise above all previous versions of ourselves and grow stronger. In this issue, we look at some ways in which we can embrace a better self and an even better future.

The Relentless Pursuit of Improvement

It is no secret that I believe growth is the only guarantee that tomorrow will be better. It is no mystery that I think personal growth is the steppingstone to success for any leader. If you or I want to stay in front of the curve and lead others, then we must do the work that keeps us out front. We must continually improve. But as I seek to improve, there is one thing I know not to chase, and that is perfection. Perfection is a trap. Do not chase perfection as a leader - chase improvement. Make today better than yesterday so tomorrow can be better than today. The relentless pursuit of improvement will take any leader far.

After all, envy encourages us to make some pretty poor decisions. Like every other character flaw, however, envy can be overcome. You can directly reduce the envy itself, or you can at least reduce the bad choices you make as a result of envy. Here are seven strategies I use to cut envy out of my own life.

Joash Heng. Pilot. Republic of Singapore Air Force.

Rion has been a true friend, brother, with a passion in ensuring that my family are appropriately protected in tough times. I have known Rion for several years now, since the days he was my finance officer when he was working as a civil servant. His work ethics have remained unchanged – passionate, dedicated and driven. Rion makes the utmost effort in 1) understanding your needs, 2) designing a personalised portfolio that caters to your needs and 3) ensures you are NOT insured for things that are not applicable to you. Rion goes the extra mile for service – spending additional time to explain difficult but critical concepts in the simplest terms, and is willing to drop personal commitments to ensure that your needs are met. Rion is here to help, not sell. Look no further if you want an honest, truthful, pleasant experience with a peace of mind. Having policies is not enough; you need someone to execute your claims effectively and efficiently. With Rion in the industry for the long haul, you know that there’s someone you can count on for the years to come.

An Qi. Ops Planner. SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC)

I’m very satisfied with the policies and service rendered. JJ has been clear in explaining the policies and offering comprehensive coverage to me. He is definitely one of the most knowledgeable and highly efficient financial consultants around. Thanks to JJ for making my financial plan a complete and bulletproof one. Highly recommended!

Yong Le. Accountant. ExxonMobil

Got to know Jia Jun through NS. Went through several consultations before purchasing a whole life insurance policy with JJ. Throughout the discussions and consultations, JJ never push for any sales, but really tried to understand my needs, and tried to tailor the suggestions and recommendations to my needs. At no time did I feel pressurised to purchase from him. Very client-centric, JJ will only recommend policies that he believes is beneficial to you, nothing more. If you are not interested, he is open to you to not purchase any of the policy. I have no doubt that he will be a good agent to have, and will help you to plan for what you need, and nothing more than what is necessary for your financial plans.

Wong Zhi Kai. Sales & Marketing

Ellie communicated with me on a personal level and sharing stories and people she associate with their stories. Have [also] did an analysis of my current plans and did a comparison with the mean average income and expectations. This is very informative for me as I now know where my plan stand compare to the rest.

Meng Wai. Airforce Engineer. RSAF.

Rion - Get to know this financial consultant through a friend of mine who was also his client. I am impressed with the way he break down my finances and recommend to me what i really need instead of hard selling. The explanation and rationale for each policy was explained clearly during the meet up which shows his professionalism in this industry.

Yuan Rui. PSA.

Rion have been very understanding of my current affairs. At the time I had no wish to get any other insurance coverage in the foreseable future. The few times he insist we meet up for a chat, we reviewed the coverage that I have and showed me what I'm lacking in coverage. After the meets, I remembered a quote from long ago that no matter how rich or poor one is, it is common sense to get full coverage for your own health and life. The idea that if one's body is to breakdown from major illnesses you won't want to burden yourself further with the thought of financial affairs and the future of your close ones. It is reassuring to have the ease of mind that a brother in arms will assist you in times of need and helplessness. If I ever get myself in such a situation, all I ever need is to focus and take good care of my health. Since this is a testimonial for Rion, it is also reassuring that with his life's experience and examplary work experience (as you would too know) he would make his best effort for the people around him regardless. Talking to him have been uplifting. And you would too be affected by his high spirit and cheerfulness towards living a good good life.
